Filipino style spaghetti has the distinct sweet taste. It is often cooked with banana ketchup and hotdog. But on this recipe, I will teach you how to cook it with meatballs. It’s frequently offered at children’s birthday parties due to its sweet taste that the kids really love then accompanied with some delectable fried chicken and cake. 

Growing up, spaghetti has been always a part of all our celebrations, from every birthdays, christmas, new year and even just a normal weekend and have it as a snack. I don’t know why but the taste of the banana ketchup plus the hotdog that there is an addictive taste on it once combined.

Once you start devouring this spaghetti, you can never stop until you are stuffed.

MOM's SPAGHETTI (FILIPINO STYLE MEATBALLS SPAGHETTI)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Pasta
  • 1 kg Spaghetti Sauce (35 oz)
  • 1 bottle Banana Ketchup (325g)
  • 1/2 cup Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 cup Minced Onion
  • 1 tbsp Sugar (white or Brown)
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
  • 1 cup Canned Sliced Mushroom (drained)
  • Cheese

MEATBALLS

  • 500 g Minced beef
  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs
  • 1/2 cup Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 cup Minced Onion
  • 1 pc Egg
  • 1 tsp Salt and Pepper
  • Cooking oil for Frying

Instructions
 

MEATBALLS

  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl
  • Scoop a small portion of the mixture and mold it into a ball-shaped figure.
  • Deep fry or bake till it is halfway cook only. As it will be cook further lately when we put it in the sauce. This is just to avoid the meatballs to break down.
  • Set aside once done

SAUCE

  • Saute onions and garlic till it browns a little
  • Add in the mushrooms and meatballs
  • Pour in the spaghetti sauce and banana ketchup.
    You can add a little water in the ketchup bottle to get all the remaining ketchup in the bottle.
  • Add the sugar, salt and pepper. Adjust the taste accordingly
  • Simmer in medium heat for 5-10mins.
  • Pour in the sauce in your cooked pasta and serve with lots of cheese on top
